Calvary Episcopal Church is excited to announce a King Cake contest on February 3, open to the public. If you'd like to participate, please drop off your King Cake entries at the Calvary Parish Hall before the parade between 8:30-9:00 am. The cakes will be evaluated based on appearance, texture, and taste.
There are two judging categories: one for adults and another for children aged 12 and younger. Our local celebrity judges will award crowns in both categories. Judging will take place during the parade, and afterwards, the doors will open for the public to savor the King Cakes and enjoy hot cider. We look forward to seeing you there!

Mardi Gras season is upon us, and we are celebrating with a new show coming in February, "L'Esprit de la Louisiane", (The Spirit of Louisiana). This is a curated collection of works portraying the culture and beauty of Mardi Gras and Louisiana. You can meet many of the artists and see the show's debut at Art After Dark on February 3rd.
"Blues Man", Todd Roth of "Comin' Up Muddy", will play a set at 6pm, and we'll have plenty of complementary refreshments. Admission is always free.

The Bastrop Jazz Alliance (BJA) is proud to present "First Saturday Jazz Night" on February 3, 2024 at the Lumberyard Music Hall in downtown Bastrop. The Juan Rangel Trio, led by saxophonist Juan Rangel, will perform an engaging and energetic set of great jazz music for your listening pleasure from 7:00-8:30 PM. Joining Juan on stage will be James Smith on Bass, and Steve Garza on Drums. Suggested freewill donation of $10.00 per person at the door. Come on out and enjoy some great live jazz.

We will kick off the evening with our second line parade down Main Street, music from the Jason McKenzie Jazz Quartet & pancakes! Everyone is welcome & everything is free!
